Life Update Thing-Stuff

Well, the A/C is fixed. I did not melt. Neither did my computer (though I think it was giving it a good think).

I don’t think I bothered to mention anywhere that I’m doing JulNoWriMo. Well, I am, if only because I am vastly behind on my yearly word goals, and this seemed as good a time as any to get my ass in motion and catch up with shit and stuff. I’ve written nearly a hundred thousand words this month. But they’ve all been on a rewrite of Just a Glimpse, which I’m starting to get sick of. On the other hand, I hate dumping a project in the middle – but then, I’ve already thought of a better way to start it and logical reasons to cut out a handful of superfluous characters.  I’ve not written anything today. (I’ve also got a handful of other projects completely planned and ready to go, including my first stab at erotica, which I can’t see turning out very well.)  I just don’t feel like I’m accomplishing much by plodding away at this draft. Perhaps I’ll start something new tomorrow. If I get motivated. Or something. Yeah.

I have finally re-started editing Burning Eden. I’m almost finished my first go-around of edits on the first part, and I’ve chopped it nearly in half, which is what I aimed to do.  I think it’s much spiffier as it now. As spiffy as it could be? Only time will tell. Y’know, when I finish the rest of it and actually start querying. (Soon, dear god, please soon).

But most importantly, I’m going on vacation!

Except it’s a classic dork’s vacation. Here’s the planned itinerary:

Mom and I drive down to Baltimore on Sunday. Spend the afternoon at an art museum.

On Monday, we visit the acquarium, and then drive to DC

On Tuesday, we visit the Holocaust museum

On Wednesday, we hit the Smithsonian.

Yep. I’m going on a museum vacation. And you know what? I’m really, really looking forward to it.

Suburban Life

Firstly, dear lurkers, I’m fine…just lazy.  Blogging will get back up to speed eventually. But right now, for two reasons I’m incapable of making promises.

The first reason is that I had an interview at a pretty prestigious law firm. As a receptionist. I have no belief whatsoever that I’ll get it, or that I’ll even advance to the second round of interviews, but that sort of thing leaves me pretty beat.

The second reason is…well, I make no secret that my stomping grounds are the Philly burbs. As some of you might know, we’re in the middle of a killer fking heat wave. Most of the time, that’s cool. I just sit in my nice AC-ed house and laugh at the poor schmucks outside (okay, to be honest, I don’t look out the window much).

Unfortunately, our AC seems to have died. Naturally. On the hottest fking day of the summer. 100+ outside right now, and 83 degrees inside (and climbing…it was 81 about an hour ago). We’ve called the AC repair guy, but naturally everyone needs an AC guy, so he’s not sure if he can get here until tomorrow. And the temperature is only supposed to go down to the upper 80s tonight. It’s disgusting in here, and it’s hard to think.

But there are a few bottles of beer and some white wine in the fridge, and we’ll get through somehow.

Peace out, lurkers.
